The airport was built in 1946 and is located on SR105 five miles west of Raymond. It features an asphalt paved, 3000’, 52’-wide general aviation service runway on an East-West orientation with rotating beacon and radio-activated runway lights. Privately owned hanger space is available, along with tie-downs for five aircraft, self-service fuel, and a pilot ready room with phone and rest room. The Port is currently expanding the area available for hangars.

The Coast Guard developed an airport in the 1940’s.  The airport is a facility located behind dikes on the flat bottom of the Willapa River valley, northwest of SouthBend.  Presently the airport runway is located on the north beach of the Willapa River and is accessed via SR 105 and county road.  The Port owns approximately 332 acres of diked land. The 52 foot wide runway was upgraded with a 2 inch asphalt overlay in 2005. An overlay of the taxiing and tie down area is scheduled in 2006.

Opportunity for New Development
The Port is currently developing an area north of the taxiway for additional hangar space.  Vacant land adjacent to the runway and entrance road is adequate to provide space to accommodate new development.  Industrial uses will be prioritized.

Recreational Facilities/Opportunities
The airport currently hosts several airplane related recreational events.  There are opportunities to host a variety of community events both related and unrelated to flying.  An RV Park may also be possible.  The dikes surrounding the airport have potential to be developed as hiking trails with picnicking, and bird watching and viewing points.
