Stan Hatfield South Fork Industrial Park
ImageThe Port acquired a 30 acre former sawmill site and is currently working on a mixed-use redevelopment of the property located within the Stan Hatfield South Fork Industrial Park. The triangular shaped park is located just north of US 101 in Raymond and is accessed from Wilson Street. This location is also bounded to the east by the South Fork and to the northwest by the Willapa Rivers. The Port leases a kiln, planer, and shipping shed facilities to a local sawmill. The former mill machine shop has been completely renovated and now accommodates a health club, saw shop, offices and truck shop.

The lumber mill facilities are currently leased to Willapa Bay Hardwoods, a local alder sawmill business.  The alder logs are sawed in their mill in South Bend and trucked to the Stan Hatfield Industrial Park for drying, planing and shipping.  The mill has plans to expand the dry kiln capacity to accommodate a second sawmill shift.

Opportunity for New Development
There is significant opportunity for development.  The 14-acre parcel just north of the old railroad grade has potential for a variety of mixed uses.  The area between the shipping shed and kilns is earmarked for a kiln expansion.

Opportunity for Property Expansion

The Port will continue to acquire the remaining approximately 2 acres of residential properties located along Peters and Bradford Streets. 

Recreational Facilities/Opportunities
The Willapa Hills trail is routed along the southerly and westerly perimeter of the industrial park.  The public frequently use the South Fork pier for fishing.  There is a small public road side park facility located on US 101.  There is an opportunity to develop floating docks for recreational moorage at the existing pier.  Nearby services such as grocery shopping, fast food and service station will help the public explore the local area.   

Future Opportunities
The Port is currently working with the Willapa River Development Company, a private developer interested in developing a mixed commercial / residential development on the 14 point.  This development will encompass a number of improvements including:

  •    The addition of floating docks to the existing pier for moorage
  •    Entry way road improvements
  •    Relocation of shipping shed access.
  •    Relocation of existing 1,500 sf building
